Knowledge through Action

Mobile museums and Learning labs

MUSEUM OF NUMBERS (MoN) is a traveling mathematics museum/exhibition with hundreds of interactive math exhibits and hands on activities. We tour schools and libraries and provide an immersive experience to the participants. The goal is to get the students excited about the abilities of mathematics and make them wonder about real life applications of what they learn in school.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should be the grade level of the participants?

Activities are appropriate for Grades 3 and up (Basic knowledge of arithmetic is needed for many activities). All activities can be enjoyed by middle schoolers. None of the activities are suitable for lower elementary grades or toddlers.

How long will it take to experience all exhibits and activities at an event?

We expect it will take 3+ days to work on all that MoN has to offer at any event. The exhibition's value is best derived as school day long or a weekend event.

Won't the students be bored working on mathematics for the entire day?

Activities are presented as immersive experiences in interesting real-life scenarios and hands-on experiments. Most students will be exposed to the action-oriented content for the first time during the event. Active participation is also rewarded with giveaways and prizes. We also continue only those exhibits and activities that have received enthusiastic participation at our previous events. MoN is able customize the content for the target audience and bring in new experiments at every event.

Is the event similar to other math festivals in it's focus on board games?

We present our exhibits and activities as part of career explorations, real-life situations, escape rooms, treasure hunts, hands-on experiments. These are custom developed for MoN events. We are able to bring in board games if the school prefers, however, our typical content does not include playing board games.

How much space is needed for the event?

A typical event is designed for 200-500 students. Most schools enjoy the "Day of Math" as event for the entire school.

How much does it cost to bring the event to our school?

Can the school use the event as a fundraiser?

Yes, we will work with the school to help with fundraising. We will also donate to help fund-a-need if there are more than 300 attendees.

How many volunteers will the school need to provide during the event?

None. We will bring in all the supplies and personnel who are background checked, TB tested, fingerprinted.
